Miscellaneous base touch; Nietzsche on progress and overpopulation
The ὀλιγόψυχος thinks about the infinite
I’ve once again derailed myself from working on a piece comparing Philo and MLK. The laser pointer that captivated me this time was the chatter about Homeric “ethics” on twitter, involving disputes about what they were or whether they existed at all. Additionally, BAP recently suggested on his podcast that Homeric ethics were not ethics but aesthetics, echoing Nietzsche. I think I’ll throw my two cents in the ring on this one because it’s an interesting subject with analytical and sociological puzzles that I find entertaining.
But in preparing to write that digression, I came upon another justification for another digression while looking through Nietzsche’s early Human, All Too Human.
